HOW TO USE THE MODEL PORTFOLIO TABLE
The 'MODEL PORTFOLIO' is our more conservative example portfolio. Click on a ticker symbol to open a stock's detailed information. 'Last' is the most recent price available for a stock (delayed 15-20 minutes). 'Paid' is the price at which we bought the position, based on the price at the market open the day after an evening Buy Alert. We enter an electronic order and buy at the open because we want to make our example portfolios as easy as possible to follow. You may wish to make your purchases at a time that is more appropriate for you. Be sure to do your own analysis and homework before buying an of the example stocks.

PORTFOLIO CALCULATOR
Use the "Portfolio Calculator" link to get the number of shares for different starting amounts. Click HERE to open the calculator window. Put the starting amount in the lower right box of the window, labeled, "Total Invested." (Do not use commas.) The calculator will give you the dollar amount of each of our example stocks as well as the number of shares. "$$$$" is the amount of cash we are holding in our example portfolio. Note: Due to rounding to whole shares, a small amount invested may generate a portfolio that does not approximate IntelligentValue's example portfolio composition.
EXIT STRATEGY
We will send out a SELL ALERT by e-mail in the evening or before the market open if we sell a stock from our example portfolios. If you're following our picks, you can place an electronic sell order with your broker anytime after this Sell Alert is issued and before the market open. When we buy a stock, we place a 20%-25% stop on it as a 'disaster' preventative. Occasionally, we will list an intraday stop (3rd column from the right) when a stock has continuing upside potential, but is threatened by downside risk. On rare occasions, we'll enter an intraday stop during a market session. You'll receive an e-mail notice if this occurs. Stop suggestions are listed in the third column from the right ('STOP') in the portfolio table above. Read more about our Exit Strategy in the 'Getting Started' page.
PRICE DOCUMENTATION
Anytime a stock in our example portfolio is bought or sold, we adjust the price to the opening fill price (or the intraday stop price if applicable) as listed in Yahoo Finance. The Closed Positions price in our records for a sold stock will be based on the Opening Price the day following a Sell Alert or an intraday stop. You can see the adjustments to the price and cash account anytime a stock is bought or sold in the Price Adjustments section.
HOW TO BUY THE STOCKS
